1978: The film The Buddy Holly Story opens. It kicks off a resurgence of interest in Holly’s music although the film has very little to do with the real story of Buddy’s life.
1979: Eric Clapton finally married his “Layla,” the former Mrs. George Harrison, Patti Boyd. George is in attendance, as are Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. The three Beatles play together at the reception, running through a set of old rock ‘n’ roll classics.
