1961: The Everly Brothers become the first rock act to form their own record label when they launch Calliope Records on this day.
This Day in Rock History - May 18th
1994: In a marriage made in rock & roll heaven (or at least the brain of a great PR agent), the self-proclaimed “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson marries the daughter of the true king, Lisa Marie Presley in a ceremony so private, the press doesn’t find out for months.
The marriage lasts until January of 1996.
This Day in Rock History - May 17th
1995: Tell Tchaikovsky the news – On this day, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Fats Domino share a concert stage for the very first time when the trio headlines a show in Sheffield, England.
This Day in Rock History - May 16th
1965: Leaving a concert in Long Beach, California, the Rolling Stones limo is virtually attacked by female fans. So many of them scramble onto the vehicle’s roof that it starts to collapse. The band attempts to support the roof with their hands. The limo speeds away, leaving fans to fall onto the road.

This Day in Rock History - May 15th
1967: Paul McCartney meets a young woman who is gaining fame as a photographer of rock groups. Her name is Linda Eastman.
One year later on the very same day, when Paul appears with John Lennon on The Tonight Show (guest hosted by Joe Garagiola) to discuss the launch of Apple Records, Paul meets her again and this time, the two begin dating.
This Day in Rock History - May 14th
1966: For a record 9th time in 3 years, the record “Louie, Louie” by the Kingsmen enters Billboard’s Hot 100.

1978: When Yvonne Elliman’s “If I Can’t Have You” hits #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, it sets a record for its composer.
Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees becomes the first songwriter to pen four consecutive #1 hit records on the American charts.
This Day in Rock History - May 12th
1971: Mick Jagger marries his girlfriend, Bianca Perez-Mora, in St. Tropez, France. The bride is four months pregnant at the time.
The couple would divorce in 1978, but Bianca has been quoted as saying, “My marriage ended on my wedding day.”
